Night of the Lyon Hot Club- 70th anniversary

Bending New Corners

2018 marks the 70th anniversary of the Lyon Hot Club, still a very lively institution (200 gigs per year) on the Lyon musical scene. The eldest jazz club in Europe has seen pass under its arch an amazing line of swing bootleggers and blue notes distillers, from Duke Ellington to Chet Baker, from Louis Armstrong to Dizzie Gillespie, from Art Blakey to Miles Davis. Other contemporary giants has started there as well, like Louis Sclavis or a certain... Erik Truffaz.

Happy coincidence, the trumpeter also has candles to blow in 2018 : 20 years ago his album Bending the Corners was released. A unique mix of acoustic instruments, electronic sounds and hip-hop chattering who would create a new school and bring jazz to a new generation of listeners. With the charismatic rapper Nya, already present on the original project, Erik Truffaz and his Quartet have decided to play again on stage, this record which has, in the same fashion as the Hot club, not aged at all.

And thus, with such beautiful happenstances of dates, les Nuits have decided to team with the Hot Club in order to celebrate on the same night two anniversaries of both timeless and ecumenical jazz tones.

After-show at the Lyon Hot Club

After the gig at the Odeon, Erik Truffaz will perform during an after-show at the Lyon Hot Club, 26 rue Lanterne, Lyon 1er.
