NUIT ITALIENNE / NIGHTS MUSICAL SALONS

VINICIO CAPOSSELA

WITH THE ORCHESTRA OF THE OPERA NATIONAL DE LYON

Orchestrations and conducting : Stefano Nanni

With a screening of Frederico Fellini’s “Prova d’orchestra” before the concert.

Great friendships are like are great songs : nothing exhausts them, nothing makes them commonplace. For people lucky enough to live with them, they always spread an exciting perfume of novelty. So is the bond that ties Les Nuits to Vinicio Capossela, marked since 2015 by three concerts at Fourvière each one more astounding than the last. And this fourth rendez-vous should not break the charm... A few years back, the Italian prodigy stood on stage as Captain Achab, singing from the entrails of a giant whale. This time it will be in the muzzle of a symphonic “Orque-estre”, the one fully alive of the Opera National de Lyon, into which he will throw himself body and soul, with his piano, his far-dreamt story, his fevered imagination, his ballad that would split a heart of stone. All of that to be performed aboard a ship worthy of this gargantuan odyssey : in Lyon’s grand Opera House, a place full of echoes and symbols for an Italian musician.

As this night is born under the sign of the most graceful folly, it will start with the screening of a rare film by Fellini, Prova d’orchestra : a comical and emotional dive into an orchestra’s rehearsal session, an ideal introduction to the insight Capossela himself holds on the world and on human existence.
